As a medical necessity, the Pediatric Belt Cane is an assistive technology device (ATD) under the category of durable medical equipment (DME). In most countries, including the United States, there are multiple funding sources to purchase your child’s custom assistive technology device.

Important step: Schools purchase Assistive Technology Devices (ATDs) listed on students' education plans.

Under federal and state laws and regulations, assistive technology devices (ATDs) are provided to children eligible for specialized education plans due to a disability. These laws are the reason US Schools provide and pay for assistive technology devices for students who need them.

Schools purchase an ATD for a student, when it has been shown to be necessary for the student with a disability to increase, maintain, or improve the functional capabilities in one or more of the following areas of development: physical development; communication development; cognitive development; social-emotional development; and adaptive development.

Safe Toddles provides justification for use of Pediatric Belt Cane use by children with a mobility visual impairment or blindness (MVI/B).

If you have been unable to secure 3rd party support for your child's device, please complete, sign, and return the application form.
