Discover the Future of Mobility and Confidence in the Blind and Low Vision Community

White Cane Conversations is an empowering virtual event bringing together some of the most influential voices in the blind and visually impaired community. This interactive discussion will spotlight independence, innovation, and inclusion — from traditional white canes to groundbreaking mobility tools like the Pediatric Belt Cane and All Terrain Cane.

This is not about one-size-fits-all solutions. It’s about real stories, real tools, and real talk for families, professionals, and blind individuals ready to move from uncertainty to confidence.

Meet the Speakers

Kristin Smedley

A TEDx speaker, bestselling author, and single mom of two blind sons who thrived through public school, college, and even baseball championships. Kristin is on a mission to motivate others to see beyond challenges and thrive with vision loss.

Mike Mulligan, COMS, CVRT

A Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS) and Certified Vision Rehabilitation Therapist (CVRT), Mike has over a decade of experience teaching independent travel skills. With more than 1 million followers across YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok, Mike uses social media to educate and inspire people who are blind and visually impaired around the world.

Sedona Dave

Founder of Awarewolf Gear and inventor of the All Terrain Cane, Sedona Dave turned his vision loss into a mission. As an avid outdoor enthusiast, he designed the All Terrain Cane to empower people with low vision to explore rugged environments safely — and to continue leading adventurous, active lives.

Dr. Mary Beth Calhoon

Associate Professor at the University of Miami’s School of Education and Human Development, Dr. Calhoon is a long-time advocate for the Pediatric Belt Cane and a proud Safe Toddles board member.
