The William G. and Helen C. Hoffman Foundation Renews Support for Safe Toddles with a $30,000 Grant to Advance Early Mobility for Blind Children

New York, NY — [October 10] — Safe Toddles is honored to announce that the William G. and Helen C. Hoffman Foundation has awarded a $30,000 grant for 2025, marking the second consecutive year of support. This renewal reflects the Foundation’s long-standing commitment to initiatives that benefit learners of all ages who are blind or visually impaired, and underscores the significance of their recognition of the Pediatric Belt Cane as a transformative innovation.

With decades of experience supporting vision-related nonprofits, the Hoffman Foundation brings a uniquely informed perspective to evaluating projects that improve the lives of people with visual impairments. Their endorsement highlights the Pediatric Belt Cane’s proven impact in empowering blind or mobility visually impaired children to walk safely and explore independently.

Funding will expand Safe Toddles’ capacity to provide families and professionals with evidence-based tools, training, and support; strengthen outreach in New York and New Jersey; and enhance the Blind Baby Safe Mobility online curriculum.

“We are deeply grateful to the Hoffman Foundation for their continued confidence in our mission,” said Dr. Grace Ambrose-Zaken, President of Safe Toddles. “Their support affirms the importance of giving every child who is blind the chance to experience safe, self-initiated movement. Together, we are transforming early mobility into a foundation for lifelong learning and inclusion.”

Safe Toddles is the only organization dedicated exclusively to improving access to the protective quality of the white cane arc through innovative mobility tool design. The Hoffman Foundation’s renewed investment affirms the growing recognition of the Pediatric Belt Cane as a life-changing advancement in early independence and social participation for blind children.
